The Problem With Conventional Products
The average American home contains 40 to 60 chemical cleaning products. Many contain compounds linked directly to health and environmental concerns:
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) — Found in glass cleaners, disinfectant sprays, and aerosol products. The EPA estimates that indoor air contains 2 to 5 times more VOC pollution than outdoor air, and cleaning products are a primary contributor.
Ammonia and chlorine bleach — Effective disinfectants, but they irritate lungs, skin, and eyes on contact. In households with children under five, elderly residents, or adults with respiratory conditions, the risk is significantly elevated.
Phthalates — Hidden inside products labeled simply as "fragrance." These are endocrine disruptors that accumulate in the body over time and have been linked to hormonal disruption in peer-reviewed research.
Phosphates — Common in dishwasher and laundry detergents. When they enter waterways through drain systems, they trigger algal blooms that deplete oxygen and devastate aquatic ecosystems.
What We Use Instead
Our product standards are built on four pillars:
Plant-based surfactants. Derived from coconut, corn, and palm kernel oils rather than petroleum. They lift and suspend dirt through the same mechanical action as synthetic detergents — without environmental persistence or health risk.
Enzyme cleaners. Biological enzymes break down organic matter — protein, grease, urine, blood — at the molecular level. This is the same technology used in hospital-grade biological sanitization. Enzymes are non-toxic, fully biodegradable, and exceptionally effective against both stains and odors.
Essential oil formulations. Real lavender, eucalyptus, lemon, and tea tree oils provide natural antimicrobial properties alongside genuine, pleasant fragrance. No synthetic perfume compounds.
pH-neutral solutions. Aggressive acids and alkalis damage surfaces over time and leave chemical residues. Our pH-neutral cleaners are safe for granite, marble, hardwood, stainless steel, and automotive clear coat alike.
Does It Actually Work?
The most common question we receive: does plant-based cleaning truly perform at the same level?
Yes — and the data is conclusive. Independent testing through the EPA Safer Choice program confirms that qualifying plant-based formulations perform at parity with conventional alternatives for residential cleaning applications. The difference is in formulation quality and concentration, not chemical aggression.
For automotive applications specifically, we use pH-neutral car shampoos that clean thoroughly without stripping wax, sealant, or ceramic coatings. Most conventional car wash detergents cannot make that claim.
The 2026 Regulatory Landscape
State-level regulations are tightening rapidly. California, New York, and Washington have already enacted restrictions on VOC content in consumer cleaning products. The EPA Safer Choice program has expanded its certification criteria, and consumer demand for verified non-toxic products has grown 34% year over year since 2023.
